STATE SWAP BOX | FUN HOMESCHOOL GEOGRAPHY | FREE PRINTABLE RESOURCES

FUN HOMESCHOOL GEOGRAPHY | STATE SWAP BOX INFORMATION

Are you looking for a fun way to introduce geography into your homeschool? Ya'll, I'm so excited to share a really fun interactive way to teach/learn about different places.

So a few weeks ago I was perusing the gram (ADD ME NOW) when I came across a post (sorry I can't remember the user) from another homeschool family that had received some goodies from a family living in NC. In the photo description she gave all the details about how they had done a state swap box with a family in NC and had sent them stuff from their state! And then she suggested that we comment if we wanted to do the same! So I quickly typed out "me" and with in minutes I had a swap partner...from Texas!

A little private messaging back and forth (SAFETY FIRST!!!), information exchanged, and a date of the exchange and WA-LA, we have a huge box of all things Texas to add to our geography studies! Luckily we are still learning about the USA and all the states! And when we start back to school, here in a few weeks (AHH!!!), we'll definitely be starting with Texas!

I love this idea! My kids love this idea! They were so excited to get this package and open it!

Here are a few things to consider when doing a state box swap:

1. Use caution when choosing a swap partner. Make sure its legit!!!
2. Exchange the names and ages of all kiddos! This makes picking age appropriate activities easier.
3. I would suggest keeping the contents of the box below $20 or as cheap as possible. There are a lot of free printables online. And don't forget to check your local welcome centers and information stations for brochures and additional free resources. There are a lot of fun things you can add that come from the Dollar Tree!
4. Involve your kids as much as possible! Have them write letters, draw pictures, write down fun facts about their state, the local area, etc.
5. Personalize the box as much as possible! Decorate the box! Add the little touches!

I hope this helps liven up your homeschool geography lessons a bit! It's a great way to learn about your own area as well as far away lands! ;)

WE WOULD LOVE TO SWAP A BOX WITH YOU!

If you're interested in swapping from us in NC please email us at CraftHisLove@gmail.com for more information. Be sure to add STATE SWAP in the subject line!

I can't wait to share more of our state swap boxes soon!
